Louis Cardahi was unstinting in devoting to the town
of his birth the resources of his intelligence and
of his heart until the years when he could exercise
his role and activity as animator and builder,
showing his generosity and his openheartedness. |

From his earliest childhood, Louis CARDAHI loved Byblos and
vowed to it all the treasures of his generous heart and of
his objective and rational mind. Son of this city of
nostalgic grandeur, he bore the imprint of its cultural and
spiritual heritage.
As an engineer and contractor, he suffered when he saw how,
from demolition to demolition, from transformation to
transformation, from speculation to speculation, the city
lost its true aspect.
The idea of creating a Foundation bearing the name of Louis
Cardahi in this ancient town where he was born and where he
awoke to the world came naturally to us after his sudden
disappearance. It seemed to us that a Foundation
perpetuating the name of
Louis CARDAHI, by bringing together in its premises all the
discoveries and marvels gleaned over the years, might help
recreate the atmosphere of a golden age that had been lost
by erosion in such a way as to encourage those of goodwill
scattered here and there to unite and to shake others out of
their apathy and to save what is such an important part of
our patrimony. |
